Meet Cara Gilison
OTD, OTR/L, Board Certified AHA-AHCB

Cara Gilison is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and licensed and registered in the state of Florida practicing occupational therapy for the past 12 years. She grew up on Long Island, New York on my parent’s horse farm. She started riding horses at the age of 4. She competed in hunter/jumpers for 15 years and traveled up and down the east coast of the United States to horse shows. So, at a very young age she was very passionate about horses and horseback riding.

She began in the field as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. From 2015-2017, Cara attended the University of St. Augustine to receive her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. In 2020- 2022, She received a doctorate in Occupational Therapy, where she completed her scholarly teaching project/capstone project titled “Human Neurological Disorders and the Healing Power of The Horse." She is currently certified through American Hippotherapy Association-AHCB, where she integrates equine movement/Hippotherapy with Occupational Therapy services to children and adults with developmental delays, neurological conditions and behavior and emotional deficits.
